Torridon Inn Gardens
Back when the world was free to travel – just a few months ago, in fact – we visited The Torridon Inn nestled in the Highlands of Scotland, Achnasheen, Wester Ross. The Torridon is one of four hotels in Scotland that is part of The Pride of Britain Hotels Group since 2006.
I was wandering the grounds of the Torridon estate the day before our departure with my camera, and having crossed the mountain stream bridge I noticed the sign for this enchanting garden space. The gate was open and invited visitors. Best discovery of the day! I’d like to share this memorable garden adventure with you from our Scottish adventure, the Kitchen Garden at Torridon, unexpected and delightful. This explains in part the delicious food we enjoyed during our stay.
While the grounds and the buildings were impressive, frankly our accommodations weren’t that special – a bit too Bohemian lodge for my liking. But the food was delicious, the people hospitable, a spectacular location and the kitchen garden captured my imagination.
The kitchen garden is filled with apple trees, black & red currants, gooseberries, cherries, vegetables, flowers, etc. all beautifully organized and surrounded by hedges and areas of repose. Apparently they are in the process of designing and building a Gin Garden which promises yet another intriguing element to enjoy.
If you have the chance to pay a visit, I’d say well worth the opportunity.
