Pots on Plinths

Gardening in Ontario is generally on quite a different playing field than it is in many places in Europe. Such a long tradition of finessing the art of gardening. I find most garden centres in Ontario carry tacky, tasteless concrete cast accessories for home and garden, which requires more effort when hunting for better options. Unfortunately with currency exchange, tariffs and shipping fees, the US and Europe are out of reach for our budget, even though there are many great resources further afoot than here at home.

When I’m looking for urns, fountains, or something special to adorn my garden, Bulow Garden Centre on South Service Road in Oakville is my first local go to.

I wanted some substantive urns, the right scale, to flank either side of our stone retaining wall. I came across these beauties this past summer at Bulow’s. Not the lightest things to lug around, in fact I thought my brother and I were both destined for hernias unloading the truck. Thankfully no injuries, yet. Looking forward to seeing them in place and overflowing with flowering plants next summer.
