Garden Tips

Spring Back 2010

Spring came early this year. The old rule still pertains, especially in zone 6; wait until the May two-four weekend before getting too serious with the planting and gardening. We could still have snow or frost. We’re actually about a month ahead of usual seasonal change, so proceed with caution.

Summer. Let the show begin!

This is play time in a garden, especially in the more northern hemisphere. It would be unfair not to mention it’s hard work too, but like most things in life, hard work is required to continue producing rewarding results. So here are my tips for this summer season.

Spring. A Time to Create it!

I think of spring as “ramp up” season. Get ready to get busy.

The things you didn’t accomplish the season before and all of the winter planning and the preparations required for the season ahead come to a crashing crescendo… and so begins the serious business of gardening once again. This is analogous to the hour before opening up the store for an anticipated busy Saturday Sale, preparing a fully booked restaurant for the evening guests, or getting ready for a grand vacation. Lots of pre-think is required to be certain it will deliver a satisfying outcome.
